Appointment Registration
To make a doctor’s appointment, call 799-5400 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on weekdays. If you want to make a future appointment for a routine checkup or service, the call will be handled by the appointment clerk. If you need an appointment the same day, your doctor’s nurse will take the call. The nurse will tell you which doctor can see you and when. The nurse also may be able to suggest a simple remedy or treatment you can try at home, or offer advice about what you can do to help treat the problem before you see a doctor.
Triage. If the schedule is full and you are experiencing an acute problem, the triage system is available. This system has been established to deal with emergency and acute problems such as chest pain, hemorrhage, breathing difficulties, lacerations, fractures, or very ill children.
A triage nurse will ask you about symptoms and determine if you need to be seen by a physician immediately. The nurse may run some lab tests or X-rays to save time and make sure you are ready to see a doctor when one is available.
Cancellations. When you can’t keep an appointment, please call 24 hours in advance to cancel it. This simple courtesy allows us to make better use of the staff’s time and facilities and better serve all of our patients. Thank you for your cooperation.
During clinic hours. The best way to get information to or from your doctor is to contact your doctor’s nurse. Usually, the nurse can find out what you need to know and tell you about test results, prescriptions, or other questions you may have. When it is necessary to talk directly to the patient, your doctor will return you call personally.
After clinic hours. After 4:30 p.m. on weekdays or on weekends and holidays, call Shawano Medical Center 526-2111. Ask to speak to the doctor who is on call for the MTC and you will be asked your phone number and the doctor will call you back.
Emergency rescue service. The Menominee Tribal Rescue Service provides 24-hour emergency medical services for the reservation and county. If you have a medical emergency, call Menominee Central Communications at 799-3881.
All patients must register every time they use the clinic. Patients are asked to provide enrollment verification and proof of health insurance coverage. Please have you insurance card handy. Please notify the patient registration clerk of any changes in your telephone number, address, or insurance coverage. Your cooperation is appreciated. Patient information is used for planning and third party billing.
Dental emergencies. Emergency cases are seen at 8:15 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Appointments. Patients should call or come to the Dental Clinic 8:00-8:30 a.m. on Monday mornings to get an exam appointment. Appointments are booked three (3) weeks in advance. The telephone number for appointments is 799-3960 of 799-5474. Once a patient has been admitted for an exam, subsequent appointments are made as the patient finishes each current appointment.
After a patient’s second broken appointment within a 12-month period, the patient will be notified that should they break a third appointment they will be required to appear before the Health Committee to regain dental clinic appointment privileges. With adult appointments being hard to get, patients are encouraged to keep their appointments and call to cancel if they cannot make it. (If an appointment is cancelled within four hours of the appointment time, it will be considered a broken appointment, since it does not allow enough time to fill the appointment slot.)
Specialized treatment. Some cases may require referral to outside dentists. Decisions about which patients are to be referred, and whether contract dental care funds can be used, are made on a case by case basis by the attending Tribal Clinic dentist.
Appointments are scheduled one month in advance. To make an appointment, call or come to the Optometry Department between 8:00-8:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. Once appointments are filled for the following month, patients will be instructed when to call back to make an appointment. Priority is given to eye emergencies, children and diabetics over routine adult eye exams.
Telephone number to make an appointment: 799-5448. Patients are seen Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
