The Nutrition Department also provides nutrition care to patients and families. The program strives to achieve optimal nutrition, health, and well being according to individual patient’s needs. As an integral part of an interdisciplinary team, staff members provide evaluations as well as ongoing treatment through individual and group settings. The Nutrition Department offers the following specific services:

• Diabetes and weight management counseling
• Nutrition advising for community agencies
• Prescription/specification of food and nutrient intake
• Translation of nutrition requirements into meal plans, food choices, and preparation techniques
• Fostering of behavior change by educating, counseling, motivating and advising
• Referral to other service providers when necessary

The Nutrition Department strives to offer a quality and efficient method of providing nutrition counseling that will allow the individual to meet energy/nutrient needs and wellness goals.
